INTRODUCTION
Ebola Virus has caused worldwide panic with the recent outbreak. We strongly believe that this virus can be contained if addressed with necessary caution.
Ebola was first recognized in 1967. This virus has produced several epidemics every few years, but most of them have been isolated and limited to the African continent. The very first case of the Ebola Virus happened when infected monkeys were imported to Germany, and the kidneys were removed from these animals to develop the Polio vaccine.
The challenge that the infection control authorities of various countries face at the moment is to control and limit the import of this virus onto their soils.
This makes it mandatory to have strict precautions while admitting travellers from endemic areas as well as isolating the few cases of Ebola Virus infection from the population.
In the United States of America, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has the herculean task of managing the cases of Ebola Virus Infection as well as protecting the American soil from the threat of a widespread epidemic of this disease.
